今回は、東寺の終い弘法を紹介します。

弘法大師の命日にちなみ、毎月21日、京都市にある東寺の境内では「弘法市」が大々的に開かれます。
上の写真のように弘法市では骨董品や古着などの品を売る店がずらりと並びます。その年最後の祭典が「終い弘法」と呼ばれこの１年間で無病息災を感謝して最もにぎやかなフリーマーケットが開かれます。ある人には無用の物でも他の人には十分に役立つ品物になることがあるんですね。
昔から今のリサイクルのような仕組みが行われていたことに驚きました。少し古くなったらすぐ捨ててしまう現代の私たちにも考えさせられることがありそうです。

‘Koubou-ichi’(flea market) is widely held in Touji temple on the 21st of each month for praying for the KoubouTaishi’s soul of the dead. Seeing the picture, you find a lot of shops such as antique shop and second hand clothes store. The koubou-ichi in December is called Shimai-Koubou and the flea market is the biggest of the year for thanking the god for being in good health. Useless things for someone are not always useless for others. I am impressed by the fact that a kind of flea market (recycled-goods shop) has been held for a long time. Now we tend to throw old things away even if these things make available to someone else. Maybe it’s a good opportunity to realize the importance of recycled-goods as we realize we are living in the circulatory system of the earth.

「any」は「どんな~」、「some」は、「ある（一部分）〜」というニュアンスがあります。前回紹介した例文で違いを表現すると以下のようになります。

　　Some information is available 「ある（一部分の）情報が手に入ります。」
