今回は、日本の伝統産業の紹介です。

今回は、口上福助（上写真）をご紹介します。もともと福助さんは、大丸のもとと言われている伏見の呉服屋さんにいたそうです。福助さんは見てのとおり頭が大きいですが、その店では、福助さんを奥に下がらせるようなことはなく、いつも店頭に福助さんをいさせたそうです。その大丸が大きく発展したのでそれにあやかり、多くの店頭にこの福助さんが置かれるようになりました。最近では、福助さんを置くと単に儲かるからと店先に置く人も多いそうですが本来はその呉服屋さんの仕事や人に対する姿勢を見習うという意味があったのですね。今回の取材も大変、勉強になりました。

Fushimi dolls

We shall look at Fushimi dolls (Japanese dolls).
Hukusuke used to work for the mercer which was the origin of Daimaru department and was situated in Fushimi. As you see the picture, Fukusuke was not so good style,　however, he was allowed to be situated in the storefront to welcome the customers. The mercer has developed the large department store. Thus, people around there learned the attitude of the mercer and tried to put this kind of the doll in front of the store. Recently many shops have tried to put this kind of doll in order to become rich. However, the real important thing is to learn the mercer’s attitude toward the work and colleagues. It was the good opportunity for me to learn the Japanese traditional commodity.
