実際その人がかかえている問題や精神状態によって同じ庭でも山にかかっている雲に見えたり、陸と海に見えたり、川を渡っている虎の親子に見えたりと見え方が違うのです。庭は、２週間に１回ほど小僧さんが整備するだけのなるべく手を加えない、自然界を表現しています。この庭の前にいると２時間でも３時間でもボーッと考えていられそうです。実際は寒いので今年のように夏か冬しかないシーズンでは難しいでしょうが。。。 もしかしたら今年のような冬と夏しかない極端なシーズンも自然に手を加えすぎたことに対する何らかの警告のような気がしてなりません。 ◇ 英訳 ◇ We shall look at the excellent Japanese culture which respects nature and cooperate with nature rather than competing with it. Actually I went to Ryoanzi and really enjoyed Karesansui which is made of small stone and rock. The reason why I enjoyed is that we regard the garden as a different thing according to our mental conditions. For instance, we regard it as ‘the vast sky and crowd’ or as ‘the Ireland and Sea’ or as two tigers which are parent and child and running through the river. People in the temple try to avoid artificial maintenance as much as possible. We might enjoy and consider our problems we have for two or three hours there because of its comfort. Actually it is difficult to stay there long hours in such an extremely cold weather or hot weather through a year.
